The Reasons that Induced Dr S to write a Poem called The Lady's Dressing Room - Lady Montagu

Lady Montagu writes this poem in response to the poem Jonathan Swift wrote, "The Lady's Dressing Room". Swift's poem was all about how he thinks women are disgusting and unappealing in some instances, targeting women and their hygiene.

Lady Montagu was not a fan of Swift's jab at women so she went back at him, addressing his negative and rude attitude toward women. She is straight forward in her response, letting her true feelings show, even targeting Swift personally. She address a bad encounter he had with a prostitute. He was unable to perform and then asked for his money back. She refused which added to his anger and frustration. This instance, which is pretty embarrassing, is the reason he wrote the poem in the first place.

This one bad situation fueled enough frustration and anger in Swift to write a poem which rips women apart. I find it funny how this one instance sent him over the edge, causing him to attack all women, comparing them and putting them all in one category, all being disgusting.
